Amanda Seyfried joins the ‘Blippi’ universe: A new chapter in children’s entertainment
A fresh face in the ‘Blippi’ world
Amanda Seyfried, known for her award-winning performances in “The Dropout” and “Mank,” is stepping into a new realm of entertainment. This time, she’s targeting a much younger audience through a collaboration with Moonbug Entertainment’s popular “Blippi” franchise. The partnership includes a new music video and a collaboration with Seyfried’s own brand, Make It Cute.
A musical duet with Blippi
In a delightful twist, Seyfried stars in a new music video for the hit “Blippi” song, “Excavator.” The song has been transformed into a Broadway-style duet between Seyfried and Blippi. The video showcases the duo discovering their mutual love for excavators, culminating in a lively song-and-dance number during an excavator-themed playdate. You can watch the video here.
Seyfried’s personal touch
Seyfried shared her excitement about the project, noting how her children are captivated by Blippi. “My kids think I’m the coolest for partnering with Blippi,” she said. “It’s wonderful to see them so entertained while learning. That need for imaginative play is one of the reasons I started my children’s playhouse company, Make It Cute, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with Blippi.”
Expanding the ‘Blippi’ universe
The collaboration doesn’t stop at the music video. “Blippi” has also filmed social content featuring Make It Cute playhouses. This partnership is part of a broader strategy by Moonbug Entertainment to work with celebrities and influencers who bring a unique perspective to the brand. Recent collaborations include former U.S. Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson and former NFL player Joe Haden.
A decade of ‘Blippi’
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the “Blippi” character, originally created by Stevin John in 2014. Moonbug Entertainment, which acquired “Blippi” and another YouTube sensation, Cocomelon, in 2020, has significantly expanded the franchise. The distribution of “Blippi” has grown from four to 67 platforms, and the show’s monthly YouTube views have tripled. “Blippi” music has also generated over 300 million streams annually.
New ventures and partnerships
Moonbug has arranged several new partnerships to celebrate this milestone. Deals with Caterpillar, Monster Jam, and Formula 1 are in the works, tying into the new vehicle-themed series, “Go Go Blippi Show,” set to launch in November. Formula 1 will participate in two episodes, aiming to introduce the sport to younger audiences while appealing to their parents who might already be fans.
The essence of ‘Blippi’
Moonbug’s chief creative officer, Richard Hickey, reflected on the brand’s journey. “The whole genesis of it was around kids being fascinated by a tractor driving across a field. From there, growing it into the franchise that we’ve got today has been a pleasure and an honor. The concept of curiosity is something that kids naturally buy into, and that combination of learning and curiosity has stood us in good stead as we tried to grow this as a franchise.”
Upcoming ‘Blippi’ content
In addition to the new series, Moonbug is releasing four 15-minute episodes to celebrate the 10th anniversary. These include “Blippi’s Biggest Ball Pit Challenge,” featuring a massive ball pit with 500,000 foam balls, provided through a partnership with Caterpillar. Other episodes include “Blippi and Meekah’s Under the Sea Foam Party,” “Blippi’s Colorful Dino Dance Party,” and “Blippi’s Candy Escape Challenge.”
Real-time audience engagement
One of the strengths of the “Blippi” brand is its ability to interact with its audience in real-time. “What was so beautiful about the brand as it came to us was that it already had this very passionate audience,” said Katelynn Heil, general manager of “Blippi.” “Given that it’s a digital brand, we can interact almost in real-time with them. We’ve been able to establish and grow the franchise by using insights from our fans.”
A bright future for ‘Blippi’
The future looks promising for “Blippi” as it continues to expand its reach and engage with new audiences. With innovative partnerships and a strong focus on curiosity and learning, “Blippi” is set to remain a beloved brand for children and parents alike.
