People’s Choice Country Awards: A New Era in Country Music
The People’s Choice Country Awards, which debuted in 2023, is set to return for its second edition on NBC this September. This year’s nominees include some of the biggest names in both country and pop music, such as Beyoncé, Shaboozey, Zach Bryan, Kacey Musgraves, Morgan Wallen, and Jelly Roll.
A diverse lineup of nominees
Leading the nominations is Zach Bryan with 19 nods, followed by Beyoncé with 17, and Kacey Musgraves with 15. Interestingly, despite their massive popularity, these artists did not dominate country radio this year. This could be a strategic move by the awards show to set itself apart from the more traditional CMA Awards and ACM Awards.
The fan-voted awards show will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock on September 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, with Shania Twain hosting the event.
Rising stars and established icons
Shaboozey, a newcomer whose song “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” has been a chart-topping hit, has garnered 12 nominations. Unlike Beyoncé, Bryan, and Musgraves, Shaboozey has made a significant impact on country radio, with his song reaching No. 1 in airplay.

The ACM Awards, previously on CBS, are now exclusive to Amazon Prime.
The show is an offshoot of the long-running People’s Choice Awards, which last aired in February on NBC. The CMA Awards will be the next major event on the country music calendar, with a date yet to be announced for November.
