Deep C Digital acquires North American rights to ‘American Trash’
A final performance from Tom Sizemore
Deep C Digital has secured the North American rights to “American Trash,” a film that features one of the final performances of the late Tom Sizemore. Sizemore, known for his iconic role in “Saving Private Ryan,” passed away in 2023, leaving behind a legacy of over 18 films in various stages of post-production.
Robert LaSardo’s directorial debut
“American Trash” marks the directorial debut of Robert LaSardo, an actor recognized for his roles in “Nip/Tuck” and “The Mule.” LaSardo not only directs but also stars in the film, working from his own screenplay. The cast includes Costas Mandylor (“Picket Fences,” “Saw” franchise), Lorelei Linklater (“Boyhood,” “Bomb City”), and Gigi Gustin (“Night of the Missing”).
A story of companionship and tragedy
The film follows Milles (played by LaSardo), a war veteran grappling with PTSD. He finds solace in his relationship with Melissa (Linklater), an environmentalist. However, their bond is tested when a tragic event occurs, prompting Detective Anderson (Mandylor) to investigate. Meanwhile, Melissa’s sister Mandy (Gustin) embarks on her own investigation alongside Milles. Sizemore plays Detective Kelly, adding a layer of complexity to the narrative.

A love letter to Los Angeles
LaSardo shared his vision for the film, stating, “I aimed to create a film that captures my deep affection for Los Angeles, a city I’ve grown to love over the years. Once a beacon of sunshine and dreams, I felt it was deteriorating into something harsh and perilous. I wanted to tell a story that highlights this change and brings attention to the realities beyond Hollywood.”
Behind the scenes
Josh Webber, who produced the film alongside LaSardo, expressed his pride in the project: “I’m incredibly proud of the film Robert has crafted for his directorial debut. He met every challenge with great wisdom, and I’m excited for the world to experience it through his lens.”
The deal was negotiated by John Kim, CEO of Deep C Digital and Webber Films, on behalf of the production team.
