IFC Films and Shudder team up for ‘Get Away’: A comedic slasher to remember
A new horror-comedy on the horizon
IFC Films and Shudder, AMC Networks’ streaming service dedicated to horror, thriller, and supernatural programming, have announced their acquisition of the North American rights to Steffen Haars’ upcoming comedic slasher film, Get Away. This film, previously known as “Svalta,” is penned by Nick Frost, who also stars in it alongside Aisling Bea, Sebastian Croft, and newcomer Maisie Ayres. The world premiere is set for Fantastic Fest 2024 in September, with a theatrical release on December 6, 2024, followed by its Shudder debut in 2025.
A family vacation gone wrong
Get Away follows the Smith family on what was supposed to be a peaceful vacation to a remote island. However, their idyllic getaway takes a dark turn when they discover that the island is home to a serial killer. This blend of horror and comedy promises to deliver both laughs and scares in equal measure.

The film is financed by XYZ Films and produced in collaboration with John Hegeman of Wayward Entertainment, Lee Kim of Resolute Films, and Nick Frost. Richard Kondal of Big Safari serves as the co-producer, with Vince Totino of Wayward Entertainment and Patrick Fischer of Creativity Capital as executive producers.
