PaleyFest NY 2023: A celebration of television excellence
A decade of ‘Outlander’ and more
This year’s PaleyFest NY promises to be a spectacular event, featuring panels and screenings that celebrate some of the most beloved and anticipated television series. The festival, running from October 16 to October 22 in midtown Manhattan, will kick off with a special panel marking the 10th anniversary of Starz’s Outlander. Fans can look forward to engaging conversations with the cast and creative team, reflecting on a decade of time-traveling romance and adventure.
Spotlight on ‘Somebody Somewhere’ and ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol’
Another highlight of the festival is a panel dedicated to HBO’s Somebody Somewhere, a series that has captured hearts with its poignant storytelling and relatable characters. Additionally, AMC’s The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol will be featured, offering fans a deeper dive into the post-apocalyptic world and the enduring bond between Daryl and Carol.

Amazon MGM Studios celebrates Emmy nominations with themed food trucks
In celebration of its 62 Emmy nominations, Amazon MGM Studios is launching three themed food trucks on August 10, inspired by Fallout, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and Red, White & Royal Blue. Each truck will make two stops across Los Angeles before culminating at Cinespia’s screening of True Romance in Hollywood.
Themed culinary delights
- The Fallout food truck will serve “vault burgers,” veggie burgers, french fries, and “Okie Dokie donut holes.” It will stop at the Venice sign on the corner of Pacific Avenue and Windward Avenue from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., then move to Santa Monica on the corner of Montana Avenue and 15th Ct. from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- The Mr. & Mrs. Smith food truck will offer “John’s NY Style hot dogs,” “Jane’s veggie dogs,” and “John’s and Jane’s cookies.” It will start at the Miracle Mile next to La Brea Tar Pits from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., then head to the Runyon Canyon Park entrance in West Hollywood from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- The Red, White & Royal Blue food truck will serve “Perfect Union fish and chips,” wedding cake pops, and Earl Grey iced tea. It will begin in Studio City on the corner of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Ventura Boulevard from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., then stop in Silverlake on the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Sanborn Avenue from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Fox Entertainment partners with USLA for ‘Lifeguards First’ campaign
Fox Entertainment is teaming up with the United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) to support the Lifeguards First campaign, a letter-writing initiative aimed at granting open-water lifeguards the benefits and recognition of Emergency First Responders. This partnership comes ahead of the debut of Fox’s new drama series Rescue: HI-Surf, premiering September 22.
Beach pop-up event
To promote the campaign, Fox and USLA will host a beach pop-up in Los Angeles on August 31. The event will feature shaved ice trucks, photo opportunities, appearances from the Rescue: HI-Surf cast, and chances to spread awareness and support the movement. The show follows the personal and professional lives of heavy-water lifeguards who patrol and protect the North Shore of O’ahu, showcasing their heroic efforts in Hawaii’s challenging conditions.
Fremantle promotes Trey Durst to VP of U.S. distribution
Fremantle has announced the promotion of Trey Durst to vice president of U.S. distribution for the production company’s international division. Durst, who joined Fremantle in January 2022, has been instrumental in negotiating the distribution and monetization of the company’s FAST channels and AVOD library within the U.S.
A new chapter for Fremantle
In his new role, Durst will continue to report to Lisa Honig, senior executive vice president of North American distribution, international. Durst expressed his enthusiasm for the promotion: “I look forward to continuing my journey at Fremantle. It’s exciting to be part of a new sector of Fremantle’s business and to see how much it has grown in recent years. I can’t wait to continue exploring innovative ways to make our iconic IP available via the latest advances in the world of streaming.”
