A new cinematic journey: ‘Boy From Andaman’ set to captivate audiences
A fresh directorial debut
Richie Mehta, the creative mind behind Netflix’s “Delhi Crime” and Prime Video’s ”Poacher,” is stepping into a new role as executive producer for the upcoming film “Boy From Andaman”. This project marks the directorial debut of Parinaz Jal, promising a fresh perspective in the cinematic world.
Produced by Janice Chua for Imagine Entertainment and Harman Baweja for India’s Baweja Studios, the film also sees contributions from Los Angeles-based Rick Ambros, Vancouver-based Bhhaskar De, and Mumbai-based Sharmila Pinheiro. This international collaboration hints at a rich, diverse storytelling approach.
A story of faith and friendship
Based on an original idea by Manu Chopra, the script, co-written by Jal and Chopra, follows the journey of Mohan, a Mumbai post office worker. Mohan stumbles upon a letter addressed to “God” from a young tsunami survivor in the Andaman Islands. This discovery sparks an unlikely friendship through their letter exchanges, leading Mohan to embark on a journey to the Andamans to help the boy. The film explores profound themes of faith and human connection, as experienced by two characters from vastly different worlds.

Parinaz Jal brings her experience from assisting Mehta on “Poacher” and “Delhi Crime” to her directorial debut. This background ensures a nuanced and compelling narrative, enriched by her previous work in the industry.
