Austin Abrams embraces bold roles and future possibilities
A fearless approach to acting
Austin Abrams, known for his daring performances, recently took on a challenging role in the film Wolfs. The movie required him to spend the first half in nothing but underwear and crew socks. This wasn’t a daunting task for Abrams, who previously donned gold spandex shorts for a memorable dance number in the HBO hit Euphoria.
“I didn’t really care,” Abrams shares about the minimal costume. “I was ready to do whatever I needed to do to work with those guys.”
Working with Hollywood legends
The “guys” Abrams refers to are none other than George Clooney and Brad Pitt. In Wolfs, directed by Jon Watts, Clooney and Pitt play professional fixers who usually operate solo. Their world is turned upside down when they have to cover up the presumed death of Abrams’ character, simply known as “Kid.”
Abrams recalls his first day on set with the A-listers as both terrifying and exciting. However, Clooney and Pitt quickly put him at ease by being “super welcoming, as if I was an old friend or something like that. Really gracious.”
A complex character
Despite being found with four bricks of heroin, Kid is not a criminal mastermind but a naive teen caught up with the wrong crowd. His tendency to ramble, often under duress, presented an interesting challenge for Abrams. He had to deliver minutes-long, roundabout monologues with varying levels of intensity.
“You want everything to be as specific as possible,” Abrams explains. “The character is trying to keep them engaged, making sure they’re following along with what he’s saying because it depends on if he lives or dies.”
Future prospects
While Abrams is hopeful about returning for the Wolfs sequel, he remains uncertain about his future on Euphoria. The production of the third season has been delayed multiple times, with the latest push to January. “I have no idea. I don’t know if they’re filming it, if they’re planning on filming it even, or what is going on,” he says with a shrug.
Despite the uncertainty, Abrams is eager to work with Euphoria showrunner Sam Levinson again. “I love Sam, and I love everyone on the cast. It was a privilege to work with him because there’s so much creativity that he brings. The whole process feels very open and creative and always moving.”
Upcoming projects
Abrams is set to appear in Weapons, a horror epic directed by Zach Cregger, alongside Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, and Julia Garner. While the plot remains a mystery, Abrams promises a stellar script to match the impressive cast.
However, Abrams remains grounded about his future projects. “At this point, I try to stay as best I can in the present of what’s happening in front of me.”

His ability to tackle complex characters and work with industry legends showcases his dedication to the craft.
