Berner, 33, and DeSorbo, 31, first crossed paths while working at a New York City media company. Their television careers took off in 2019 as castmates on Bravo’s “Summer House.” The pandemic saw the birth of “Giggly Squad,” which quickly climbed the ranks to become one of the Top 20 comedy podcasts in the United States. Berner’s first Netflix comedy special, “We Ride at Dawn,” premiered in July, and their U.S. tour, “The Giggly Squad Live: Club Giggly Tour,” is set to continue through January 2025, culminating at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

When asked about the latest season of “Summer House” and Lindsay Hubbard’s pregnancy, DeSorbo expressed her support and admiration. “Love a pregnant woman. It’s that beautiful thing that females do, so I’m very supportive,” she said. Despite the unusual dynamic of having a pregnant woman in a house full of party-goers, DeSorbo noted that Hubbard managed to make it work seamlessly.

Creating engaging content consistently can be challenging, but Berner and DeSorbo attribute their success to their chemistry and genuine friendship. “If we didn’t have chemistry, this would be impossible,” Berner explained. Their dynamic allows them to keep the content fresh and entertaining, with Berner often testing her stand-up material on DeSorbo.

Both podcasters reflected on their journey and the unexpected path they have taken. “We started ‘Giggly Squad’ during the pandemic, really just on Instagram Live,” DeSorbo shared. Berner added, “Our 20s were pretty chaotic. My 30s is about realizing what brings you joy and being yourself.”

For those just starting their adult lives, DeSorbo and Berner offered some sage advice. “Give yourself grace; you’re not going to get your dream job right out of college,” DeSorbo advised. Berner emphasized the importance of being kind to oneself and staying true to what brings joy.

Future projects and a book on the horizon

Looking ahead, Berner and DeSorbo are excited about their upcoming book, set to release in April. The book promises to be a mix of personal anecdotes and comedic insights, reflecting their unique voices. “It’s not a novel by any means. It’s just a fun book to relax and get your mind off your own problems,” Berner said.

The idea for their podcast’s conversational style emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic. “It started because we were bored at home, but it was also therapeutic for us,” DeSorbo explained. The podcast allows them to take a break from life and share their candid conversations with their audience.

Berner credited their reality TV experience for shaping their podcast. “We saw a lot of stuff on the cutting room floor of us being funny that didn’t match the storyline,” she said. The podcast became a platform to showcase their true personalities, beyond what was portrayed on TV.
