Chakraborty, now 74, has an impressive filmography with over 350 films across various Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Odia, Bhojpuri, and Telugu. His journey in cinema began with a stellar debut in Mrigayaa (1976), which earned him his first Indian National Film Award for Best Actor. However, it was his role in Disco Dancer (1982) that catapulted him to international fame, resonating with audiences across Asia, the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa.

Throughout his illustrious career, Chakraborty has garnered numerous awards. He has won three Indian National Film Awards: Best Actor for Mrigayaa and Tahader Katha (1992), and Best Supporting Actor for Swami Vivekananda (1998).
