Prime Video France unveils an exciting lineup of new originals
A diverse slate of series, movies, and unscripted shows
Prime Video France has announced an impressive array of new original content, including series, movies, and unscripted shows. This lineup features a mix of comedy, action, and drama that promises to captivate audiences. Among the highlights are “Culte – 2be3,” a series about the famous 1990s French boy band, “Glamsquad” by Rebecca Zlotowski, Gaumont’s thriller “Carjarkers,” and the new comedy format “Liars Club.” Additionally, the service has picked up the second seasons of “Escort Boys” and the war thriller “Dark Hearts,” as well as Nick Cassavetes’ “Marked Men.”
Glamsquad: A glamorous adventure in the world of beauty
“Glamsquad” is an upcoming series developed by French filmmaker Rebecca Zlotowski, known for her film “Other People’s Children,” which competed at the Venice Film Festival in 2022. Co-written by Olivier Nicklaus and produced by Les Films Velvet, “Glamsquad” follows the flamboyant lives of four young beauty experts with strong personalities who work closely with celebrities. The series, set in Paris and other iconic locations, will be directed by Zlotowski and promises to offer a behind-the-scenes look at the world of luxury and glamour.
Thomas Dubois, head of Amazon MGM Studios France, emphasized the streamer’s commitment to working with talented female directors, citing previous collaborations with Melanie Laurent. Zlotowski, who has primarily worked in film, made her TV debut with the critically acclaimed political thriller “Les Sauvages.”
2Be3: A nostalgic journey into French pop culture
Prime Video France is co-producing “2Be3,” a series created, written, and directed by Yael Langmann. The show is based on the story of Filip Nikolic, Frank Delay, and Adel Kachermi, three childhood friends from a Parisian suburb who formed the first and most famous French boy band, 2Be3, in the 1990s. Starring Antoine Simony, Marin Judas, and Namory Bakayoko, the series is produced by P33 Studio.
Dubois highlighted that “2Be3” is the second Prime Video Original series exploring a French pop culture phenomenon, following “Culte,” which premieres on October 18. The “Cult” anthology aims to shine a light on influential figures who have shaped contemporary society, offering a fresh perspective on success stories from the past 25 years.
Un mariage sans fin: A romantic comedy with a twist
The slate also includes “Un mariage sans fin,” a high-concept romantic comedy series written and directed by Patrick Cassir. Starring Tarek Boudali and Camille Rowe, the series begins at a wedding in a remote Moroccan hotel where Louna and Paul discover they are trapped in a time loop. This American-style fantasy romantic romp promises to deliver laughs and heartfelt moments.
Carjarkers: An action-packed thriller
Prime Video will also release “Carjarkers,” an action thriller produced by Gaumont and starring Zoé Marchal and Franck Gastambide. Written and directed by Kamel Guemra, the movie follows the intense and gripping story of carjackers navigating dangerous situations. Dubois noted that Prime Video’s film offerings often have an edge, whether through comedies like “Sentinelle” or action films like “Medellin.”
Liars Club: A new unscripted comedy game show
In the unscripted space, Prime Video France is set to launch “Liars Club,” a celebrity-driven comedy game show created by Prime Video France and Endemol France. Similar to “LOL,” the show features duos of comedians who must tell wild stories and convince others they are telling the truth. The first season will include well-known French comedians such as Kad Merad, Olivier Baroux, and Melha Bedia.
Dubois expressed the streamer’s ambition to be a laboratory of French creativity for the world, citing the success of previous unscripted shows like “Comedy Class” and “LOL.”
Dark Hearts and Escort Boys: Returning favorites
On the acquisition side, Prime Video France has secured the second seasons of “Dark Hearts” and “Escort Boys.” “Dark Hearts,” produced by Mandarin Television, follows a French Special Forces commando in the war against ISIS. The new season, directed by Frédéric Jardin, continues the intense narrative with a returning cast and new characters.
“Escort Boys,” the French adaptation of the Israeli show “Johnny and the Knights of Galilee,” will also return for a second season. The series, directed by Ruben Alves, explores the lives of four young men who become escorts to save their family business. The new season promises to delve deeper into the characters’ relationships and psychology.
Marked Men: A new adaptation of a bestselling book series
Prime Video has also acquired “Marked Men,” a movie directed by Nick Cassavetes and based on Jay Crownover’s bestselling book series. Starring Chase Stokes and Sydney Taylor, the film is set to bring the beloved characters and their stories to life.
Collaborations with broadcasters and future projects
Prime Video France continues to collaborate with broadcasters like TF1 and France Televisions on various projects, including “Cat’s Eyes” and the upcoming fantasy thriller “Anaon.” The streamer has also picked up the direct-to-platform movie “Le Jardinier,” starring Jean Claude Van Damme and Michael Youn.
Baghery emphasized Prime Video’s willingness to board select projects early, whether for series, films, or entertainment formats, and to support feature film projects intended for theaters and international audiences.
