A surprising new smoothie collaboration: Salt & Stone partners with Erewhon
Erewhon, the upscale supermarket chain known for its viral smoothie collaborations, has unveiled its latest creation: the Salt & Serve Smoothie. This time, the partnership is with none other than the deodorant and body care brand, Salt & Stone. Available for a limited time from October 1-31, this $10 smoothie promises to deliver a luxurious taste experience while providing essential nutrients and antioxidants.
The unique blend of ingredients
The Salt & Serve Smoothie features a coconut-creme soft serve base drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with flaky sea salt. This combination is designed to evoke the luxurious feel of Salt & Stone’s products while nourishing the body. The ingredients were carefully selected to ensure a balance of taste and health benefits, aligning with Salt & Stone’s philosophy of using natural, functional ingredients.
The journey of Salt & Stone
Founded in Los Angeles by former professional snowboarder Nima Jalali, Salt & Stone has made a name for itself with its natural deodorants and a range of other body care products, including body mist, body wash, lotion, hand cream, facial cleanser, candles, and gift sets. The brand has previously collaborated with notable names like Leon Bridges, Outdoor Voices, Stüssy, and Brain Dead.
Jalali, an early fan of Erewhon, was inspired by the supermarket’s success as he built out Salt & Stone. He shared his excitement about the new partnership and the process of selecting the right ingredients for the smoothie.
Crafting the perfect smoothie
Jalali explained that the collaboration with Erewhon was a natural progression for Salt & Stone, given the brand’s success as Erewhon’s top body care brand. The goal was to create a smoothie that not only tastes amazing but also relies on functional ingredients that are as close to their natural state as possible.
“We approached this collaboration the same way we design our body care — with a focus on ingredients that are both functional and sensorial,” Jalali said. “Our scents are designed to transport you into the natural world, and we wanted Salt & Serve to do the same.”
The importance of functional ingredients
Salt & Stone’s products are designed to “help protect, cleanse, support, and recover,” and this philosophy was carried over into the smoothie. The coconut base is creamy and indulgent, yet rich in nutrients that support recovery. Extra virgin olive oil was chosen for its numerous health benefits, including brain and bone health. The touch of sea salt balances the flavors and evokes the feeling of saltwater in the air on the Pacific Coast Highway.
The viral success of Erewhon smoothies
Erewhon’s smoothie collaborations have consistently gone viral, and Jalali is confident that the Salt & Serve Smoothie will be no exception. He shared that Erewhon smoothies are a daily occurrence in his household, and he appreciates the supermarket’s commitment to high-quality ingredients.
“Erewhon has a way of turning wellness into something really fun and flavorful, and I think that’s why these smoothies have resonated with so many people,” Jalali said. “Each one is different, but they all share a commitment to high-quality ingredients, which I really respect.”
A taste of luxury
The Salt & Serve Smoothie offers a flavor that is both unexpected and indulgent, and Jalali believes that people are going to love it. The collaboration with Erewhon is a testament to the brand’s ability to innovate and create unique experiences for its customers.
