Office Ladies podcast evolves: New formats and exciting content ahead
A new chapter for Office Ladies
The beloved podcast “Office Ladies,” hosted by Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, is entering an exciting new phase. As they near the end of their comprehensive rewatch of the Emmy-winning comedy “The Office,” the hosts have announced significant changes that promise to keep fans engaged and entertained.
Twice-a-week episodes: Office Ladies 6.0
Starting in early November, “Office Ladies” will adopt a twice-a-week format. The Wednesday episodes will be rebranded as “Office Ladies 6.0,” a nod to the Season 1 episode “Hot Girl,” where Michael Scott (Steve Carell) awkwardly compares Pam (Fischer) to a traveling purse saleswoman, calling her “Pam 6.0.” This new segment will feature fresh interviews, behind-the-scenes stories, and in-depth character studies. The first guest on “Office Ladies 6.0” will be the renowned casting director Allison Jones, who played a pivotal role in assembling the show’s iconic ensemble.
Fischer and Kinsey have hinted at future episodes focusing on detailed character analyses, starting with Michael Scott. Fischer expressed her hope to eventually cover every character from the series, providing fans with a deeper understanding of their favorite personalities.
Introducing Second Drink: A fresh take on the rewatch
In addition to “Office Ladies 6.0,” the hosts are launching a new podcast called “Second Drink,” which will begin on November 11. This podcast will revisit the rewatch from the beginning, supplemented with new material. The title “Second Drink” is inspired by the Season 2 premiere episode “The Dundies,” where a tipsy Pam educates Jim on the joys of frozen drinks. These episodes will be released on Mondays, starting with the series premiere, and will include bonus content at the start of each episode.
Kinsey described “Second Drink” as a way to relive the rewatch experience with added insights and anecdotes, making it a must-listen for both new and longtime fans of “The Office.”
The journey of Office Ladies
“Office Ladies” premiered on October 16, 2019, as an Earwolf production and has since switched platforms from SiriusXM to Audacy. Over the years, Fischer and Kinsey have taken listeners through all 201 episodes of “The Office,” sharing their unique perspectives and behind-the-scenes stories. As they approach the final episodes of the rewatch, Fischer noted the importance of capturing every detail, especially for the series finale. Kinsey teased a special guest for the last episode, adding an element of surprise and anticipation for fans.
The enduring legacy of The Office
Created by Greg Daniels and based on the British series by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, “The Office” has become a cultural phenomenon. Despite a rocky start, the American version gained a dedicated following and is now considered one of the greatest TV shows of all time. During the pandemic, the show saw a resurgence in popularity as families turned to it for comfort and entertainment.
Recently, “The Office” has been in the spotlight again with the announcement of a new Australian version set to premiere on Prime Video, starring Felicity Ward. Additionally, Greg Daniels is working on a new series, unofficially titled “The Paper,” expected to debut on Peacock next year.
Office Ladies’ impact and accolades
“Office Ladies” has amassed over 400 million downloads, according to Audacy. In the second quarter of 2024, it ranked No. 34 in Edison Research’s Top 50 podcasts in the United States, with over a million listeners on Spotify. The podcast’s success was further recognized in 2022 when it won a Webby Award. That same year, Fischer and Kinsey published “The Office BFFs: Tales of The Office from Two Best Friends Who Were There,” offering fans even more insights into their experiences on the show.
