Embracing sustainability: EMA honors Quinta Brunson and unveils 2024 nominations
The Environmental Media Association (EMA) has once again brought together the luminaries of the entertainment industry to celebrate and recognize exceptional contributions to environmental sustainability. This year, Quinta Brunson, the creative force behind “Abbott Elementary,” is set to be honored for her impactful environmental advocacy.
Bridging comedy and environmentalism: Brunson’s unique approach
“I’m truly honored to receive the EMA Futures Award,” expressed Brunson. “As someone who deeply cares about the environment, it means a lot to be recognized for using both my platform and my comedy to inspire change. I’m proud to be part of a community that values sustainability, and I’m excited to keep moving forward on a path toward a greener planet.”
Brunson’s innovative blend of humor and heartfelt environmental messaging has clearly resonated, highlighting how mainstream media can effectively promote eco-friendly values.
A star-studded gala with a green mission
The EMA Awards gala, scheduled for October 26, will take place at the Radford Studio Center in Los Angeles. This year, it will be hosted by Malin Akerman and Dermot Mulroney, promising an evening that melds glamour with a pivotal cause.
“I’m so excited to return to the stage to host the EMA Awards this year,” said Akerman. “Being on the EMA Board for over 15 years has informed my choices in every aspect of my life. As a mother, sustainability in our home not only keeps my family safer but teaches my son lifelong values. The EMA Awards is my favorite event of the year and always inspires me to look ahead with a renewed sense of purpose.”
The gala is more than just a celebration; it’s a call to action within the entertainment industry, uniting forward-thinking professionals committed to sustainability. EMA CEO Debbie Levin highlighted the importance of storytelling in influencing broader environmental practices: “As the most visible industry in the global community, our storytelling and production standards lead other sectors.”
Celebrating 20 years of the EMA Green Seal
This year marks a significant milestone—the 20th anniversary of the EMA Green Seal, awarded to productions that meet high standards of sustainability. The seal has become a global benchmark, encouraging studios worldwide to adopt greener practices.
“Today, there are sustainability groups and companies that assist in achieving the EMA Green Seal application and guidelines,” Levin explained. “We created the EMA Green Seal to move the industry forward with sustainable actions behind the scenes, and we are now the global standard in green production.”
