As the first-place winners, Shachar and Tang are set to receive mentorship from Imagine Entertainment, a prominent production company. Second place in the competition went to “Lola”, a film directed and written by Grace Hanna. Meanwhile, the third place was awarded to “Fishers of Men” by Chris Capel, highlighting the experiences of a young Mormon missionary at the start of his two-year service.
Hanna and Capel, apart from receiving cash prizes of $5,000 and $2,500 respectively, will also benefit from mentorship, ensuring continuous growth and opportunities in their careers.
Panel discussions and tech integration
Adding to their success, Shachar, Hanna, and Capel will participate in a panel discussion at Adobe MAX, a creativity conference scheduled for Oct. 14-16 in Miami Beach. The finalists’ submissions were brought to life using Adobe’s suite of applications, including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and After Effects, showcasing the integral role of technology in modern storytelling.
Heather Freeland, Adobe’s chief brand officer, praised the exceptional talent displayed in the winning submissions. “These films push the boundaries of filmmaking in innovative ways, embodying the core of this competition. Adobe is proud to support a new generation of filmmakers in partnership with Imagine Entertainment and The Film Zone,” she remarked.
Festival reception and future prospects
Submissions for the festival were open from July 9 to Aug. 25, with the top 10 entries shared on Instagram communities of @TheFilmZone, @ImagineEntertainment, and @Adobe. The remaining seven finalists vied for the Audience Award, reflecting a robust engagement from the public.
