Youth romance film ‘She Taught Me Serendipity’ shines at Tokyo Festival
Premiere and international acclaim
The youth romance film, She Taught Me Serendipity, made a striking debut in competition at the Tokyo International Film Festival this past Tuesday. Besides the enthusiastic reception it received, the film has already secured its first overseas rights sales, marking a significant milestone.
International licensing deals
The film has been licensed to South Korea’s NK Entertainment and France’s Art House, represented by Tokyo-based Free Stone Productions. This collaboration highlights the universal appeal of Fukutoku Shusuke’s debut romance novel adaptation, drawing attention from diverse markets. A much-anticipated release in Japan is scheduled for 2025.
Star-studded adaptation
Adapted by the acclaimed director Ohku Akiko, the storyline comes to life with a talented cast featuring Hagiwara Riku, Kawai Yuumi, Ito Aoi, and Kurosaki Kodai. The Tokyo festival’s program noted, “Ohku meticulously captures the fleeting moments of everyday life in this masterpiece. Prepare to be deeply moved and truly savor the preciousness of life.”
Ohku Akiko’s directorial finesse
