Cathy Tyson and Stephen Fry join the folk-horror film ‘Black Samphire’
A star-studded cast for a chilling narrative
Cathy Tyson, known for her role in “Criminal Record,” and Stephen Fry, recognized from “The Dropout,” have come on board to star in the highly anticipated folk-horror feature, “Black Samphire”. They join an ensemble that includes Cathy Wippell and Ishtar Currie-Wilson, who portray the couple Mari and Isla.
Unveiling a dark tale
Directed by the talented Cat White, “Black Samphire” delves into a queer toxic relationship against the backdrop of water pollution. The screenplay, penned by Wippell, promises to deliver both horror and thought-provoking themes. “Black Samphire,” inspired by an award-winning short film of the same name, aims to breathe new life into the folk horror genre. Produced by Silicon Gothic in collaboration with Candid Broads Productions, the film seeks to tell a cautionary tale set against the U.K.’s water pollution crisis.
