Gyeonggi Province takes center stage at Taiwan Creative Content Fest
Introducing Gyeonggi’s creative prowess
This week, South Korea’s Gyeonggi Province is making waves at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF), held from November 5 to 8 in Taipei. With the Gyeonggi Content Agency at the helm, the province’s participation is set to be a testament to its thriving creative industry. The event will feature the Gyeonggi Pavilion, a dedicated space aimed at showcasing the cutting-edge products and services of promising companies from the region.
Strategic collaborations on the horizon
A major highlight of the festival will be the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Gyeonggi Content Agency and the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA). This strategic collaboration aims to fortify ties and foster mutual growth in the creative sectors of both regions.
The Gyeonggi Content Agency (GCA), dedicated to rejuvenating the K-content industry, underscores its mission through active promotion at TCCF. Their goal is clear: to establish Gyeonggi as the “Heart of K-Content Creativity” by propelling local companies towards global sales expansion and creating valuable connections in Taiwan.
The economic powerhouse of Gyeonggi
Unveiling Gyeonggi’s economic stature, the province contributes a staggering KRW6 trillion to the gaming industry revenue. Notably, 40% of Korea’s game companies operate out of the Pangyo Techno Valley. Nexon, NCsoft, Kakao Games, and Smilegate are among the big names that call this tech hub home. This concentration of talent and innovation positions Gyeonggi as a formidable force in the global gaming arena.
Spotlight on innovative companies
The Gyeonggi Pavilion will provide a platform for seven smaller animation and character IP-based content companies. These participants, each bringing a unique flair, include:
- Universe Design (Suwon)
- Eunhu Holdings (Gimpo)
- Studio W. Baba (Bucheon)
- Pixtrend (Goyang)
- Whyj Contents (Bucheon)
- HSWorks (Bucheon)
- TIME FIXER (Bucheon)
These companies will present a diverse array of original content and intellectual property, showcasing the creativity and innovation driving the Gyeonggi content ecosystem.
Presentations that captivate the global stage
Noteworthy at TCCF’s Pitching Showcase on Wednesday will be HSWorks and Eunhu Holdings, each conducting 10-minute presentations in English to captivate the global market. These presentations aim to highlight the companies’ unique content and their potential to disrupt the international scene.
Eunhu Holdings stands out for its expertise in bridging merchandise and consumer products with media content, a unique approach that has now led them to develop an original movie.
HSWorks, also known as Handsome Studio, is recognized for its “kidult” content. Their projects like “Kokdu Mate”, a modern twist on traditional Korean culture, along with original IPs “Uncle Mermaid” and “Cute Snout”, reflect their innovative spirit. These contents have not only appealed to a broad audience but also achieved success as tourist souvenirs.
Driving global competitiveness
Tark Yong Seok, president of the GCA, expresses high hopes for the TCCF participation. “Through involvement in the TCCF, we anticipate that Gyeonggi-do content companies will boost their competitiveness in Taiwan and other Asian markets, expand their global networks, and generate more international export results.”
The GCA’s attendance at TCCF is part of a wider strategic effort. They recently participated in Mipcom in France and plan to engage in next month’s ATF in Singapore. This proactive approach highlights GCA’s commitment to continually promoting their content on the global stage.
As the Gyeonggi Content Agency continues to pave the way for its companies, their presence at various international festivals and markets will undoubtedly fortify Gyeonggi’s position as a creative epicenter.
