Dick Van Dyke is looking back at his illustrious Hollywood career and life while starring in a music video for Coldplay‘s song “All My Love.”
In the new video, directed by Spike Jonze and Mary Wigmore, Van Dyke is filmed at his Malibu home as he shares memorabilia he has collected over the years from his career, family, life and love. The video begins with the icon walking out into his backyard, where Coldplay’s Chris Martin sits at a piano and begins performing the song.
During one moment of the video, the Mary Poppins alum reflects on growing older ahead of his 99th birthday on Dec. 13 and why he isn’t afraid of dying.
“I’m acutely aware that I, you know, could go any day now, but I don’t know why it doesn’t concern me,” he says in the video. “I’m not afraid of it. I have that feeling, totally against anything intellectual that I’m gonna be alright.”
“I think I’m one of those lucky people who got to do for a living, what I would have done anyway. When you think how lucky I am, I got to do what I do — play and act silly,” he says as he dances alongside his wife. His family also appears in the video.
Always bringing the laughs, during one moment, Van Dyke was asked to close his eyes and think of all the people who have meant something to him. While doing so Van Dyke quipped, “I’m too old for this, i’ll pass out and go to sleep. I’ll take a nap!”
At the end of video, Van Dyke sits next to Martin on the piano and asks him to sing a song about old age. When Martin begins to freestyle lyrics, Van Dyke continues to laugh and be in awe over his quickness and creativity. “You got that on film. Do you believe this man? I can’t believe it! He just wrote a song!”
Van Dyke also produces the video with wife Arlene Silver.
A shorter music video version of the film will be released on Dec. 13 to mark the occasion of Van Dyke’s 99th birthday.
Earlier this year, Van Dyke made history by becoming the oldest Daytime Emmy winner at 98 after winning the award for best guest performer in a daytime drama series for his role as Timothy Robicheaux on Days of Our Lives.
To commemorate Van Dyke’s 98th birthday last year, CBS aired Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic, a variety special featuring spoken, sung and danced tributes to him from various stars.
