India’s Zee Studios and Shakti Sagar Productions have unveiled a teaser for “Fateh,” marking Bollywood star Sonu Sood‘s first venture into directing.
The film centers on an ex-special ops operative who investigates a cybercrime syndicate after a young woman falls victim to a scam. Sood, who also stars in the lead role, is joined by Jacqueline Fernandez (“Kill Em All 2”), Vijay Raaz (“Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3”) and Naseeruddin Shah (“IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack”).
The production features action sequences coordinated by Hollywood technicians, including fight coordinator Federico Berte (“Cobra Kai”), fight choreographer Filip Ciprian Florian (“The Woman King”) and action director/stunt coordinator Lee Whittaker (“Captain Marvel”).
The teaser features Sood’s character on a “John Wick” style rampage with the body count ratcheting up.
Popular on Variety Sood, known for his roles in “Dabangg,” “Happy New Year,” and “Kung Fu Yoga,” gained widespread recognition for his humanitarian work during the COVID-19 pandemic, organizing transportation and medical resources for thousands of migrant workers. His recent acting credits include “Samrat Prithviraj” and “Acharya.” He has appeared in roles across the Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada-language cinema industries.
“Fateh,” produced by Sonali Sood and Umesh K.R. Bansal, explores themes of digital security and online fraud. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on Jan. 10, 2025.
Sood said: “The love I’ve received from the audience over the years is extraordinary, and it’s that love I’m counting on as the teaser of ‘Fateh’ finally drops. This film is incredibly special to me – not only because it marks my debut as a director but also because it is a voice against the alarming threat that many of us underestimate: the invisible, dark forces of the cyber world. The beating heart of the film is its cutting-edge action that plays out with the ultimate showdown between the real and the virtual. This one’s for all the heroes out there who dare to fight the battles that many of us don’t see.”
