“The Madness” was the most-watched streaming original in the U.S. by far during the week of Nov. 29-Dec. 5, per Luminate. The Colman Domingo-led limited series was watched for 2.2 billion minutes in that timeframe, which marked its first full week on Netflix. This is the first time a title has crossed 2 billion minutes on Luminate’s charts since “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” which debuted with 2.7 billion minutes watched Sept. 20-26.
With just over half of the viewership of “The Madness” was “Landman,” which hit 1.2 billion minutes watched Nov. 29-Dec. 5. The Taylor Sheridan-created series dropped its fourth episode this viewing window, landing in second place. “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey” was next in line with 774.2 million minutes watched, closely followed by “Lioness” Season 2, which dropped its penultimate episode this week and hit 750.6 million minutes watched. Its first season also continues to chart, this week landing at No. 8 with 358.8 million minutes watched.
“A Man on the Inside” took fifth place with 673.9 million minutes watched this week after debuting on top the week before. “Cross” was sixth with 503.8 million minutes watched in its third full week of availability. The rest of the titles on the chart — “Tulsa King” Season 2, “Lioness” Season 1, “The Later Daters” and “The Day of the Jackal” — all came in below 500 million minutes watched.
Popular on Variety On the film chart, “Our Little Secret” rose to No. 1 with one billion minutes watched after debuting at No. 3 with 301.8 million minutes watched the week before. “Nutcrackers,” a new Hulu film starring Ben Stiller, debuted in second place with 300.3 million minutes watched in its first full week of availability, followed by “Spellbound,” which hit 209.5 million minutes watched after debuting at No. 2 with 346.7 million minutes watched the week before.
Only one more title — Tubi’s “Sidelined: The QB and Me” — achieved above 200 million minutes watched this week, while the rest of the chart positions went to “The Snow Sister,” “Hot Frosty,” “Meet Me Next Christmas,” “Sikandar ka Muqaddar” and “The Union.”
