Timothée Chalamet will receive the Chairman’s Award for his performance in Searchlight Pictures’ “A Complete Unknown” at the Palm Springs International Film Awards. The ceremony will take place on Jan. 3 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The festival will run from Jan. 2 through 14, and opens with “Better Man,” with “The Penguin Lessons” as closing film.
Chalamet has been recognized at the festival before. In 2018, he received the Rising Star Award for “Call Me By Your Name,” and the following year, he received the Spotlight Award for “Beautiful Boy.” This year, his portrayal of the 1960s star Bob Dylan in the upcoming James Mangold biopic earned him yet another recognition at the festival.
PSIFF Chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandi said in a release, “Timothée showcases both his physical and vocal talents as he brings depth and nuance to this role that is certain to receive award recognition. It is our honor to recognize Timothée, one of the most respected actors of his generation, with the Chairman’s Award.”
Popular on Variety After Chalamet’s debut role as Elio in Luca Guadagnino’s indie film “Call Me By Your Name,” he became the youngest Best Actor Oscar nominee since 1939. This year, Chalamet starred in two major feature films: Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two,” one of the year’s highest-grossing movies, and Dylan’s adapted biography.
Other honorees at the 2025 festival include Adrien Brody (Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actor), “Conclave” (Ensemble Performance Award), Kieran Culkin (Breakthrough Performance Award, Actor); Colman Domingo (Spotlight Award, Actor); Angelina Jolie (Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress) and many more.
