Timothée Chalamet stopped by College GameDay to share his predictions for a slew of today’s college football matchups, impressing the panel of Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Kirk Herbstreit, Rece Davis and Nick Saban.
Social media was buzzing amid Chalamet’s picks, with former NFL coach Blake Williams sharing on X, “Lisan Al Gaib 🤝 Ball Knower,” along with a “Dune: Part 2” meme of Javier Bardem.
“timothee chalamet might be the best we ever seen,” wrote former professional football player and current Sports Illustrated writer Kyron Samuels on X.
Popular on Variety “I’m going Jackson State. Eight wins in a row, 11 all-conference players,” Chalamet said of the game between the Southern Jaguars and the Jackson State Tigers. “It should be a comfortable easy win for them.”
The “A Complete Unknown” star went on to detail how the Ohio Bobcats and Miami RedHawks had split their last four matchups but favored Ohio. He highlighted 4th-year Bobcats quarterback Parker Navarro as a focal point to the team’s offense. The Bobcats went on to defeat the RedHawks 38-3.
For the Marshall vs. Louisiana Sun Belt Championship Game, Chalamet selected Louisiana as his favorite to win. He name-dropped several key defensive players for the football club and emphasized his confidence in their abilities to stop Marshall.
“I don’t think they’ve won a conference championship outright ever,” Chalamet said of Iowa State ahead of their matchup against Arizona State. “I’m pulling for Arizona State today.”
On to Clemson vs. SMU, Chalamet cited SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings as a legitimate contender for the Heisman Trophy this coming year, an award recognizing the top player in college football annually.
“I’m pulling for SMU,” Chalamet said. “It smells like the 1980s, folks.”
For Penn State’s game against Oregon, Chalamet predicted the latter would win and push their undefeated record to a 6-0 streak.
Lastly, for the Georgia Bulldogs’s game against the Texas Longhorns, Chalamet chose the alma mater of his “Interstellar” co-star Matthew McConaughey to emerge victorious.
“I’m going with my movie dad McConaughey here,” the Academy Award Nominee said before raising a hand in the form of the Longhorns symbol.
Chalamet will soon star in the Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown,” which is scheduled for a theatrical release on Dec. 25.
The film’s first reactions have been positive to date.
“Timothée Chalamet slides into Bob Dylan with an effortless yet focused determination. Fearless in some hypnotic moments,” Variety‘s senior awards editor Clayton Davis wrote on X.
