Universal Studio Group elevates Jonder Ho to senior vice president of business affairs
A new chapter for Jonder Ho at Universal Studio Group
Universal Studio Group has announced the promotion of Jonder Ho to the position of senior vice president of business affairs. This new role will see Ho taking on greater responsibilities, including negotiating key deals for writers, actors, directors, and other above-the-line talent. His focus will span across various productions under the Universal umbrella, such as “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist,” “Hacks,” and NBCU’s untitled Greg Daniels/Michael Koman project.
Bridging the gap between stakeholders
In his elevated role, Ho will serve as a crucial link between external stakeholders and internal departments within the studio. This includes working closely with teams in development, current programming, casting, production, and legal. His ability to navigate these complex relationships will be instrumental in driving the studio’s success.
A proven track record
Before his promotion, Ho was the vice president of business affairs for Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. Over his eight-year tenure, he has been a key player in negotiating high-profile talent and programming deals. His efforts have significantly contributed to the studio’s extensive slate of productions.
Blossom Lefcourt, Universal Studio Group’s global head of business affairs, expressed her confidence in Ho’s capabilities: “Jonder has been a tremendous asset to Universal Studio Group, and we’re pleased to expand his role. Over the past eight years, he has negotiated high-profile talent and programming deals to support all stakeholders and help build our extensive slate.”
From VR startups to Hollywood studios
Ho’s journey to this prestigious role is marked by diverse experiences. Prior to joining NBCUniversal, he was the head of business affairs at a VR content startup founded by Robert Stromberg, the Academy Award-winning production designer known for “Avatar” and “Alice in Wonderland.” This role allowed Ho to gain valuable insights into emerging technologies and their intersection with traditional media.
Ho began his career as an associate at the law firm Morrison Foerster, where he honed his legal expertise. He is a graduate of Pomona College and holds a law degree from the University of Southern California.
The future of Universal Studio Group
With Ho stepping into this new role, Universal Studio Group is poised for continued growth and innovation. His expertise and leadership will be pivotal in navigating the evolving landscape of the entertainment industry. As the studio group continues to expand its portfolio, Ho’s strategic vision will be essential in securing top-tier talent and groundbreaking projects.
