Tf1+ partners with global networks to expand its streaming empire
Since its debut at the start of 2024, TF1+ has emerged as a formidable player in the realm of ad-supported streaming services. Spearheaded by the innovative leadership of TF1 president and chairman Rodolphe Belmer, the platform has nearly doubled its content pipeline through strategic aggregation deals, boosting its digital advertising revenues by a remarkable 40%.
Expanding the content portfolio
A strategic partnership with Arte and A&E
In an ambitious move to enrich its content library, TF1+ has inked significant deals with the Franco-German Arte and the American A&E Television Network. These partnerships have expanded TF1+’s content offerings from 15,000 hours at launch to a staggering 25,000 hours today. This diverse range includes a blend of Arte’s sophisticated programs and A&E’s captivating factual entertainment, catering to a wide array of audiences.
Rodolphe Belmer remarks, “Arte offers a much more elitist range of programs, while A&E delivers factual entertainment that appeals to a more masculine audience. Both are incredibly valuable additions for us.”
Broader editorial scope
By collaborating with these third-party publishers, TF1+ has broadened its editorial horizon beyond the conventional mass-market family programs. This diversified content strategy not only attracts a varied audience but also positions TF1+ as a comprehensive entertainment hub.
Market penetration and audience reach
Achieving impressive market presence
Within a year, TF1+ has established itself as a leading free streaming aggregation platform in France. Now referenced on 95% of French TV sets, the platform enjoys an 80% awareness rate and engages an average of 33 million viewers every month. These viewers are tuning in for an average of 3.5 hours monthly, underscoring the platform’s growing popularity.
Belmer notes, “Our platform’s penetration rate and the effectiveness of our revenue-sharing model make TF1+ incredibly attractive to third-party publishers.”
Revenue-sharing model
The revenue-sharing model employed by TF1+ not only benefits third-party publishers by offering them access to the end consumer but also allows TF1’s advertising network to distribute related advertising inventories. This model consolidates TF1’s reputation as a benchmark agency for premium video inventory in France.
Digital advertising boom
Tapping into a growing market
One of TF1+’s primary goals was to capitalize on the burgeoning digital video advertising market, valued at 2 billion euros. The platform has delivered impressively on this front, increasing its market share from 4% at launch to approximately 7%.
Increased sales and market share
Belmer proudly states, “Our digital advertising sales are up 40% year-on-year. French advertisers are keen on utilizing a vast, premium advertising inventory that supports their brand communication and provides an alternative to platforms like YouTube.”
Studies have even shown that ads viewed within a TF1+ program have a memorable impact 2.5 times greater than the same ad on YouTube, indicating higher engagement and effectiveness.
Launching new ad solutions
Integration of tech and data
In a bid to attract more brands and advertisers, TF1+ has launched a new offer driven by technology and data. This comprehensive approach supports advertisers through their entire marketing strategy, providing advertising space on both television and digital platforms.
“Today, marketing is far more complex. Brands need sophisticated strategies to create touchpoints at every stage of the consumer journey. We aim to be the first platform to accompany brands in their entire digital strategy,” Belmer emphasizes.
Full funnel marketing strategy
TF1+’s new ad solutions are designed to help brands build awareness and consideration, interact with prospects, and ultimately convert them into consumers. This full funnel marketing strategy ensures that brands can maintain a consistent presence and relationship with potential customers throughout their journey.
