Whoopi Goldberg vs. Joe Rogan: The truth behind Trump’s appearance on ‘The View’
Setting the scene
In a recent episode of “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg decided to address and debunk false claims made by Joe Rogan during his Spotify podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience.” The conversation stemmed from an appearance where Rogan and former President Donald Trump claimed that the hosts of “The View” had once acted favorably towards Trump. Goldberg aptly labeled these assertions as “fake news”.
Clearing up the misconceptions
Goldberg began her rebuttal by stating clearly, “There’s a lot of fake news coming up, so we’re going to clear some of it up.” The show then played a clip from Rogan’s podcast where he claimed that Trump had appeared on “The View” in 2015. Goldberg quickly noted the error, saying, “It was 2011, four years before he announced he was running. That’s the first thing they got wrong.”
Rewriting history
Rogan’s second misstep came when he suggested that Trump was introduced on “The View” as “our friend.” Goldberg and the team flashed back to the original interview, where then-co-host Barbara Walters called Trump “my friend” while Goldberg remained notably stone-faced.
“Barbara was her usual polite self as she was with every guest. But did I look warm and fuzzy?” Goldberg asked. “Because I respect Barbara, she said to be polite to guests no matter what. And for the most part, I got through it.”
Revisiting 2011
Goldberg then tackled Rogan’s erroneous claim that “The View” hosts spoke about Trump “in such a favorable light” in 2011.
“Honey, Joe. I think you missed this part,” she said, queuing a clip from the 2011 interview where she confronted Trump over his fixation on Barack Obama’s birth certificate.

Exposing inaccuracies
Goldberg expressed her skepticism directly to Trump on air in 2011, stating, “I think that’s the biggest pile of dog mess I’ve heard in ages. It’s not because he’s Black? Because I’ve never heard of any white president being asked to show a birth certificate. That’s B.S.”
Reflecting on that moment, she added, “This show has allowed all kinds of people to come on, people we agree with, people we don’t agree with. I have not been a fan of Trump’s. I don’t like how he talks to us, I don’t like how he talks to the nation.”
Beyond the debate
Goldberg emphasized that making fun of Trump has become too easy. “Our focus is making sure we get the right person in the right job to lead the country out of the malaise we’re all in. People are walking down the street, and you can see it. We’ve been in trauma for years now.”
Continuing the feud
Trump has not taken these rebukes lightly. He has been in a war of words with “The View” ladies this election cycle. During a campaign event in Reading, Pa., earlier this month, Trump described “The View” hosts as “really dumb people.” He also reminisced about hiring Goldberg for a comedy event, criticizing her act as “filthy dirty” and “disgusting.”
Goldberg swiftly responded: “I was filthy, and I stand on that fact. I have always been filthy, and you knew that when you hired me. I headlined at your casino. How dumb are you? You hired me four times.”

The bigger picture
Rogan’s attempts to paint the hosts of “The View” as hypocrites were thoroughly dismantled by Goldberg. Her stance and reflections on the past interactions with Trump offer a poignant reminder: it’s vital to verify facts before presenting them, particularly in today’s fast-paced media landscape.
