Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Veer Zaara’ returns to theaters for 20th anniversary
A timeless love story revisits the screen
India’s Yash Raj Films has announced an international re-release of Yash Chopra’s iconic movie Veer Zaara, marking the film’s 20th anniversary. Set to illuminate 600 screens worldwide starting November 7, this romantic saga brings back the magic of Shah Rukh Khan alongside stunning performances by Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji.
Expanding into new territories
Released in 2004, Veer Zaara not only won hearts but became the highest-grossing Indian film of its time. The 20th-anniversary re-release doesn’t just cater to nostalgic fans; it’s set to break new ground, making its theatrical debut in Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar, extending its reach to 19 territories that include North America, Europe, Australia, and South Africa.
A musical gift for fans
This special re-release has something unique for the audience: the inclusion of the previously unreleased song, “Yeh hum aa gaye hai kahaan.” This musical gem finds its way into the theatrical cut of the film for the very first time, offering fans an enriched cinematic experience. It’s a thoughtful addition that pays homage to Yash Chopra’s rich tapestry of melodious storytelling.
The demand for romance
Nelson D’Souza, VP of international distribution at Yash Raj Films, revealed that the decision to re-release Veer Zaara was driven by fan demand. “We could sense that fans wanted to see this love story worldwide,” D’Souza commented. “From the chatter on social media to fan requests to our offices globally, people were waiting for us to take this decision.”
Jio Studios: A year of milestones
In a year full of significant achievements, Singham Again marked another milestone for Jio Studios by debuting alongside their new animated logo. The creative design draws inspiration from traditional mandalas and embodies elements of Indian languages and musical motifs, culminating in a breathtaking gold lotus.
