“A Man on the Inside” has been renewed for Season 2 at Netflix.
Netflix made the announcement on their official X account on Monday. The second season of the show is now slated to debut in 2025. The series debuted on Netflix on Nov. 21.
Ted Danson stars in the single-camera comedy, which is based on the Oscar-nominated Chilean documentary “The Mole Agent.”
The official series description states, “Retired professor Charles (Danson) feels life has nothing new in store for him. A year after his wife’s passing, he’s become stuck in his routine and grown distant from his daughter Emily (Mary Elizabeth Ellis). But when he spies a classified ad from private investigator Julie (Lilah Richcreek Estrada), he’s inspired to roll the dice on a new adventure. Charles’ mission: to go undercover inside the Pacific View Retirement Home in San Francisco and solve the mystery of a stolen family heirloom.”
The cast of the series also includes Stephanie Beatriz, Eugene Cordero, Sally Struthers, Marc Evan Jackson, Kerry O’Malley, John Getz, Miles Fowler, Clyde Kusatsu, Lori Tan Chinn, Susan Ruttan, Stephen McKinley Henderson, and Veronica Cartwright.
Popular on Variety Mike Schur created the series and executive produces under his Fremulon banner along with Morgan Sackett, David Miner of 3 Arts Entertainment, Maite Alberdi and Marcela Santibañez of Micromundo Producciones, and Julie Goldman and Christopher Clements of Motto Pictures. Universal Television, where Schur is under an overall deal, is the studio.
“A Man on the Inside” has received strong critical praise since its debut, with the first season holding a 95% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In her review for Variety, Aramide Tiunubu wrote, “[In] his delightful new comedy…’The Good Place’ creator Michael Schur has reteamed with Ted Danson for a charming and hilarious whodunit that examines grief, love and the excitement of new beginnings from the perspective of seniors.”
