New faces join ‘Ghosts’ for an exciting fourth season
Fresh faces and familiar spirits
The beloved series “Ghosts” is gearing up for its fourth season with some exciting new additions to the cast. During a lively panel at San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that Dean Norris and Mary Holland will be joining the ensemble. Norris will guest star as Samantha’s father, while Holland will take on a recurring role as Patience, the Puritan ghost who made a dramatic return in the Season 3 finale.
Dean Norris as Frank: A father-daughter reunion
Norris’ character, Frank, is described as a “kindly and well-meaning” man who arrives at the Woodstone mansion for his first visit in years, accompanied by his new girlfriend. Frank and his daughter Sam have had a strained relationship since he divorced Sam’s mother when she was just 10 years old. On the surface, their interactions are cordial, but deep down, Sam harbors resentment towards her father for his absence during her formative years. This tension comes to a head when a new ghost at Woodstone forces Sam into an uncomfortable conversation with Frank, compelling her to confront her long-buried feelings.
Mary Holland as Patience: A ghostly return
Holland’s character, Patience, is the ghost of a Puritan woman who died in the late 1600s. Known for her severe and judgmental nature, even by Puritan standards, Patience was expelled from her village for being “a bit too much.” After being inadvertently abandoned by Revolutionary War ghost Isaac underground near the mansion, she has become a feral creature, roaming the dirt since 1895. Her return to the Woodstone mansion promises to bring a new layer of intrigue and drama to the series.
Dean Norris: From ‘Breaking Bad’ to ‘Ghosts’
Norris is best known for his iconic role as Hank Schrader in the critically acclaimed AMC drama series “Breaking Bad”. He reprised this role in the prequel series “Better Call Saul”. His recent credits include appearances in “Law & Order: Organized Crime”, “Unfrosted”, and “Curb Your Enthusiasm”. With his extensive experience in both drama and comedy, Norris is sure to bring depth and nuance to his role in “Ghosts”.
Mary Holland: A versatile talent
Holland has made a name for herself in comedy films such as “Nightbitch”, “Between Two Ferns: The Movie”, and “Senior Year”. On television, she has appeared in popular shows like “The Big Door Prize”, “Star Trek: Lower Decks”, “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”, “New Girl”, “The Good Place”, and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”. Her versatility and comedic timing make her a perfect fit for the quirky and supernatural world of “Ghosts”.
A stellar ensemble cast
The series stars Rose McIver, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Brandon Scott Jones, Richie Moriarty, Danielle Pinnock, Asher Grodman, Román Zaragoza, Sheila Carrasco, Rebecca Wisocky, and Devan Chandler Long. Each actor brings their unique flair to the show, creating a dynamic and engaging ensemble.
Behind the scenes: The creative minds
Based on the British series of the same name, the American version of “Ghosts” was developed by Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, who also serve as executive producers. The series boasts an impressive list of additional executive producers, including Richie Keen, Matthew Baynton, Jim Howick, Simon Farnaby, Laurence Rickard, Ben Willbond, Martha Howe-Douglas, Alison Carpenter, Debra Hayward, Alison Owen of Monumental Television, and Angie Stephenson of BBC Studios. “Ghosts” is produced by CBS Studios in association with Lionsgate Television and BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions.
