This marks the fourth collaboration between Park Hoon-jung and Finecut, following their successful partnerships on “New World” (2013), “V.I.P.” (2017), and “The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion” (2018). Park’s career began as a screenwriter, gaining recognition for his work on “The Unjust” (2010) and “I Saw the Devil” (2010). His directorial debut, “The Showdown” (2010), was followed by the critically acclaimed ”New World” (2013). More recently, his Netflix original film “Night in Paradise” (2021) was selected for an out-of-competition slot at the Venice Film Festival. Park has also completed the feature film “The Childe” and the Disney+ series “The Tyrant.”
Finecut’s presence at Toronto
At the Toronto International Film Festival’s unofficial market, Finecut will present a market screening of ”Noise,” a horror-thriller about a woman with a hearing aid tormented by mysterious sounds linked to her sister’s disappearance. This film will also compete at the Sitges Fantasy Festival. Additionally, Hong Sangsoo’s “By the Stream,” which premiered last month in Locarno, will have its North American premiere at the Luminaries in Toronto, with Finecut handling the rights.
