Prime Video unveils thrilling trailer for ‘Citadel: Diana’
A new chapter in the Citadel universe
Prime Video has just dropped an electrifying trailer for its latest spy series, Citadel: Diana, featuring Italy’s own Matilda De Angelis. Known for her role in The Undoing, De Angelis steps into the shoes of Diana Cavalieri, an undercover Citadel agent battling a formidable enemy syndicate in a futuristic Milan.
A global franchise with local flavors
This six-episode series is Prime Video’s most ambitious Italian original to date. It serves as the Italian installment of the high-concept Citadel franchise, which first premiered in April 2023. The franchise aims to create a web of interconnected shows set in various countries, each linked through plotlines and characters.
Matilda De Angelis: A rising star
Matilda De Angelis has been making waves internationally since her breakout role in Susanne Bier’s The Undoing, where she starred alongside Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant. She also appeared with Liev Schreiber in the adaptation of Ernest Hemingway’s Across the River and Into the Trees, directed by Paula Ortiz.
The plot thickens
Set in 2030 Milan, Citadel: Diana takes us eight years after the independent global spy agency Citadel was decimated by Manticore, a powerful enemy syndicate that manipulates the world from the shadows. Diana Cavalieri has been “trapped behind enemy lines as a mole in Manticore,” according to the official synopsis.
The only way out for Diana is to trust an unexpected ally, Edo Zani, the heir of Manticore Italy and son of Ettore, the head of the Italian organization. Edo is vying for leadership of the evil syndicate against other European families.
A stellar cast
In addition to Matilda De Angelis, the series features Lorenzo Cervasio as Edo Zani, Maurizio Lombardi as Ettore Zani, Thekla Reuten, Julia Piaton, Filippo Nigro, and Bernhard Schütz. This ensemble cast promises to deliver gripping performances that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Citadel: Diana is produced by Rome-based Cattleya, known for Gomorrah, and is part of ITV Studios and Amazon MGM Studios. The show is executive produced by the Russo Brothers’ AGBO, with Gina Gardini (Gomorrah, ZeroZeroZero) serving as the showrunner.
