Celebrating 25 years of Kareena Kapoor Khan: A cinematic journey
PVR Inox, India’s largest cinema exhibitor, is set to honor Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan with a week-long film festival celebrating her illustrious 25-year career. Running from September 20-27, this event will take place across 30 cinemas in 15 Indian cities, coinciding with the release of Kapoor Khan’s latest film, The Buckingham Murders, directed by Hansal Mehta.
A retrospective of iconic films
The festival will showcase a selection of Kapoor Khan’s most memorable films, including:
- Asoka by Santosh Sivan
- Chameli by Sudhir Mishra
- Jab We Met by Imtiaz Ali
- Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham by Karan Johar
- Omkara by Vishal Bhardwaj
Reflecting on her career, Kapoor Khan shared, “The last two decades have been exhilarating and seem like yesterday. It feels fantastic to be a part of an industry that I love dearly and an industry that has given so much to me. It is exciting to think that through the film festival people of all generations will get to experience these amazing films, and I can relive the memories tied to these wonderful films.”

Dragon Ball DAIMA: A new adventure begins
Dragon Ball DAIMA, an upcoming original anime series based on a new story and characters from creator Toriyama Akira, is set to stream with subtitles on Crunchyroll starting October 11. The series will be available in the U.S., Canada, Latin America (including Brazil), Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, and Southeast Asia, with new weekly subtitled episodes simulcast with the Japanese TV broadcast.
Directed by Yashima Yoshitaka (key animator on Dragon Ball Z: Cooler’s Revenge) and Komaki Aya (series director One Piece), with series composition and scenario by Kakihara Yuko and animation character design by Nakatsuru Katsuyoshi, the series promises to be a thrilling addition to the Dragon Ball universe. According to the synopsis, due to a conspiracy, Goku and his friends are turned small, and adventure awaits them in the unknown world known as the Demon Realm.
Nippon TV unveils four new formats at MIPCOM
Japanese broadcaster Nippon TV, known for its internationally-adapted formats, will introduce four new formats at next month’s MIPCOM. These include two scripted shows and two unscripted formats:
- Man or Mannequin?: A visually striking game show that takes guessing games to new heights, staged all around the city.
- Unstoppable: A conceptual game show where challengers never stop and always strive to keep winning through a series of irresistible games.
- Secret Makeover: A scripted format about female protagonists who gather courage to change the irrational world and face unsolved mysteries and personal burdens from the past.
- Going Home: Another scripted format focusing on personal journeys and unresolved issues.
Sayako Aoki, Head of Scripted at Nippon TV, commented, “These new formats reflect our commitment to innovative storytelling and engaging content. We are excited to bring these unique concepts to the international market.”
Nippon TV, a multiplatform broadcaster and owner of Hulu Japan, has been active in bringing its content to the global stage through anime, ready-made programs, formats, and co-production partnerships.
Fred Media and Radar merge under WTFN
WTFN has announced the integration of its Fred Media (content distribution) and Radar (digital) teams to capitalize on market developments. The newly integrated business will debut at MIPCOM in Cannes next month with new joint Fred Media/Radar branding.
Derek Dyson, previously GM at Radar, has been promoted to Chief Commercial Officer at WTFN, taking responsibility for the integrated team and its global business strategy, along with branded entertainment businesses, Empire Talent and WTFN BE.
Louisa Emery has been appointed as GM at Radar. Before joining Radar, she led digital and social media teams at Warner Bros. and Fremantle in Australia and masterminded the “Big Brother” relaunch campaign for Channel 7 and Endemol Shine.
Sales, development, acquisitions, and co-production executive Judy Levenson has joined Fred Media as a sales consultant, responsible for the Americas. She previously held senior roles at Showtime, National Geographic, Discovery, and Scott Brothers Entertainment.
