\tDespite the case being dismissed in July, Alec Baldwin says the story surrounding the fatal \u201cRust\u201d shooting has only begun.<\/p>\n
\tOn the Dec. 16 episode of David Duchovny\u2019s \u201cFail Better\u201d podcast, Baldwin said \u201cthere is more to come\u201d regarding what occurred during the Oct. 21, 2021, shooting on the set of the indie western \u201cRust,\u201d adding that \u201cthe truth of what happened has never been told.\u201d<\/p>\n
\t\u201cI think there\u2019s more to come,\u201d Baldwin said. \u201cThere\u2019s more to come, but the more to come is now my effort, and it\u2019s going to be undeniably a successful effort, to raise and to expose what really happened. I was counterpunching. I was on the defensive. I was being accused. I was being indicted.\u201d \t<\/p>\n
\tBaldwin went on to say that he feels the mainstream media \u201csuppressed every story\u201d that could have helped his chances of exoneration and \u201camplified every story\u201d that tarnished his image in the three years since the tragic death of \u201cRust\u201d director of photography Halyna Hutchins. <\/p>\n
\t\t\t \t\t\tPopular on Variety\t\t \t \t\t \t \t\u201cWe have more shit that\u2019s going to come out in ensuing legal filings and so forth,\u201d Baldwin said. \u201cThese last three years, people have just dined out. Because in this country, when people hate you on that level, they want three things. They want you to die.\u201d<\/p>\n
\tOn the day of the shooting, Baldwin fired a prop gun with a live round in it, injuring the film\u2019s director Joel Souza and killing Hutchins. Baldwin claimed he never pulled the trigger of the firearm and the blame was soon turned to \u201cRust\u201d armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who pleaded not guilty but was eventually charged with evidence tampering and sentenced to 18 months in prison.<\/p>\n
\tThe manslaughter charges against Baldwin were dropped shortly after. However, the following year, Baldwin was re-indicted by a grand jury in light of a new investigation. The case ended in an unexpected dismissal in July after Baldwin\u2019s attorneys revealed the prosecution and the Santa Fe sheriffs had concealed evidence.<\/p>\n
\tBaldwin said that since the incident, some have stopped at nothing to shun him from the industry, a feeling he compared to \u201cbeing dead because you roam the earth and you\u2019re invisible.\u201d<\/p>\n
\tHowever, Baldwin believes things are turning around for him and said he is looking forward to setting the record straight in the coming months. \t<\/p>\n
\t\u201cI do believe that, by the communications I\u2019ve had lately, things are coming back my way to work,\u201d Baldwin said. \u201cI\u2019m happy about that because I\u2019ve got seven kids. But I\u2019ve also enjoyed the fact that there\u2019s so much of this case that is not known because we didn\u2019t have a full trial.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
