\tThe 2025 Spanish Academy Goya Award nominations were unveiled today, where the big surprise was Pedro Almod\u00f3var\u2019s \u201cThe Room Next Door\u201d being left out of the competition\u2019s best picture category.<\/p>\n
\tAlthough the film won\u2019t compete for the ceremony\u2019s top honor, its director and both his lead actors, Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore, all received individual nods, Almod\u00f3var for best director and the two performers for best actress.<\/p>\n
\tTitles selected for this year\u2019s best feature category include Marcel Barrena\u2019s \u201cEl 47\u201d \u2013 the most nominated with 14 nods \u2013 \u201cLa Estrella Azul\u201d by Javier Macipe, \u201cSaturn Return\u201d from Isaki Lacuesta and Pol Rodr\u00edguez, \u201cUnddercover\u201d from Arantxa Echevarr\u00eda and \u201cA House on Fire\u201d by Dani de la Orden. \t<\/p>\n
\tIn the best director category, Almod\u00f3var will face off against Goya regulars, including \u201cSaturn Return\u201d co-directors Isaki Lacuesta (best screenplay winner for \u201cOne Year, One Night\u201d) and Pol Rodr\u00edguez, \u201cUndercover\u2019s\u201d Arantxa Echevarr\u00eda (2019 best new director winner for \u201cCarmen y Lola\u201d), \u201cMarco\u201d co-directors Aitor Arregi and Jon Gara\u00f1o (directors of 2019\u2019s 15-time nominee \u201cThe Endless Trench\u201d) and \u201cThe Red Virgin\u2019s\u201d Paula Ortiz (2016 best director nominee for \u201cThe Bride\u201d). <\/p>\n
\t\t\t \t\t\tPopular on Variety\t\t \t \t\t \t \tSwinton and Moore will share the best actress category with local stars Emma Vilarasau (\u201cA House on Fire\u201d), Carolina Yuste (\u201cUndercover\u201d) and Patricia Lopez Arnaiz (\u201cLos flashes\u201d). This year\u2019s best actor nominees are Alberto San Juan (\u201cA House on Fire\u201d), Eduard Fern\u00e1ndez (\u201cMarco\u201d), Alfredo Castro (\u201cThey Will be Dust\u201d), Urko Olazaba (\u201cl\u2019m Nevenka\u201d) and Vito Sanz (\u201cThe Other Way Around\u201d).<\/p>\n
\tThis year\u2019s Goya ceremony will be held in Granada on Feb. 8 at the Palacio de Congresos. It will be just the eighth time the prizes are held outside Madrid.
