Justice, Justification and Judgement in Japanese Cinema,\u201d the lineup includes \u201cThe Moon\u201d (2023), directed by Yuya Ishii, which tackles institutional abuse through the story of a former writer working at a facility for disabled people. Another highlight is Bunji Sotoyama\u2019s \u201cTea Friends\u201d (2022), examining elderly care and sexuality through the lens of a senior escort service.<\/p>\n
\tAmong the contemporary offerings, Kosai Sekine\u2019s \u201cStay Mum\u201d (2024) follows an estranged daughter\u2019s encounter with a potentially abused child, while Shinji Araki\u2019s \u201cPenalty Loop\u201d (2023) explores revenge through a time-loop narrative. \t<\/p>\n
\tThe program marks notable premieres including Yu Irie\u2019s \u201cA Girl Named Ann\u201d (2024) and Ryosuke Hashiguchi\u2019s \u201cTo Mom, With Love\u201d (2024). The animation segment features \u201cGhost Cat Anzu\u201d (2024), about an 11-year-old girl\u2019s supernatural journey with a talking cat. <\/p>\n

\tThe Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation supports the program, with Japan Airlines and the Japan Society serving as cultural partners. The tour encompasses over 25 venues across the U.K., including London\u2019s Institute of Contemporary Arts, Edinburgh\u2019s Cameo Picturehouse, and Manchester\u2019s Home, from major cities to regional art houses.<\/p>\n
